Our school offers complementary courses to suit our students’ unique learning needs, interests and abilities. All of our courses follow the Alberta Programs of Study.

Complementary Course Program

Students at Captain Nichola Goddard School take various courses to complement the core program of Math, Science, Humanities and Physical Education.

We strive to offer a range of courses to engage students in learning and provide opportunities for new experiences. Most courses are offered without additional costs but any program that uses consumable materials will have a fee to cover those costs. Examples of complementary courses that have associated fees include Construction and Foods.

Complementary Courses and Descriptions - 2025-26

Current Captain Nichola Goddard students in Grade 6, 7 and 8 will be making their complementary course requests at school the week of April 14-17. Prior to their course selection next week, please have a discussion with your child(ren):

  1. Review the 2025-2026 Complementary Courses for your child's future grade listed on the right side of this webpage. Descriptions of each course along with any associated fees can be found in the Complementary Course List & Descriptions PDF document linked in the Related Information section on the right side of this webpage.
  2. Create a list of 6 preferred courses (choices are not ranked and only 4 will be selected for the school year. Please be aware band is a full year course and will occupy 2 of the available option blocks.)
  3. Teachers will supervise students as they select their courses through MyCBE at school.
  4. Verify the selections through your parent accessible MyCBE account.

The course selection process is not 'first come first serve.' If your child misses their course selection time, there will be a drop-in session available.  No student will miss out on this opportunity.
