Weekly Message - June 2-6
Only four more weeks until the end of the school year! June promises to be a busy month with field trips to Heritage Park, the Jack Singer Auditorium and the Calgary Zoo. We also have several extra-curricular activities this week including Track & Field on Monday and Flag Football on Friday. Our Band Concert is this Wednesday, and we are really excited for the event; it’s an outdoor concert and we have food trucks coming to add to the festivities.
In academics, Provincial Achievement Tests begin on June 12 and end on June 19. Rounding out the year, we will have our annual school Sports Day on Friday, June 20 and we also have our Grade 9 Farewell scheduled for the evening of June 24.
Track & Field Meet – Monday, June 2
The divisional track meet is coming up on Monday, June 2. Athletes must arrive at CNG between 6:45-7:00 a.m. for attendance. The bus will depart promptly at 7:10 a.m., and we will not be able to wait for late arrivals.
The meet will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will take place outdoors. Athletes need to come prepared for a full day outside. This includes:
- Athletic wear (including a Phoenix shirt so students can be easily identified)
 - Proper running shoes
 - Food for the entire day
 - Plenty of water
 - Warm clothes and layers
 - Sun/rain protection (hat, sunscreen, rain gear)
 - Bug spray

Optional items students may want to bring:
- A blanket or mat for sitting in the stands
 - A hat
 - A book, cards, or something quiet to do between events

Parents are welcome to come watch. If a family chooses to take their child home after their events are complete, students must be checked out with a CNG teacher at the track. All athletes must be picked up from the meet—there is no return bus to the school.
The Track & Field fee is available on your MyCBE account and must be paid before the meet. Students may also pay in cash at the office.
Athletes can wear any CNG gear to compete. Optional Track & Field t-shirts are also available for purchase from the PE office for $15.
Spring Music Concert – Wednesday, June 4
Join us for our Spring Music Concert on Wednesday, June 4, at Captain Nichola Goddard School! Weather permitting, we’re excited to host this event outdoors on the compound behind the school.
We’ll have some chairs available, but families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and outdoor chairs to enjoy an evening of music under the sky. It’s a relaxed, festival-style atmosphere—perfect for celebrating the talents of our musicians!
The concert will feature performances by our Junior Band, Senior Band, Jazz Band, and Strings Club, with a special farewell performance from our Grade 9 students.
- Performers should arrive by 5:45 p.m.
 - The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Come hungry and enjoy some delicious local eats while you listen! To make the evening even better, we’ll have food trucks on site, including:
- The Cookie Dough Shack
 - Family Squeezed Lemonade
 - Alberta Burgers

We can’t wait to see you there for this celebration of music, community, and the arrival of spring at CNG!
Grade 9 Farewell – Tuesday, June 24
We’re excited to be preparing for our annual Grade 9 Farewell Celebration, a special evening to honour our students as they wrap up their time at Captain Nichola Goddard School.
The celebration will take place on the evening of Tuesday, June 24. A letter with initial details was sent home with students, and more information—including the schedule of events—will be shared with families in mid-June.
We’re looking forward to creating a memorable send-off for our amazing Grade 9s!
