Weekly Message - October 5-9

Happy Thanksgiving! We have an extended weekend with the school closed on Monday. Classes resume on Tuesday morning.

We’re halfway through the month of October and still enjoying unbelievable weather (let's just ignore the forecast for this weekend). The great weather is perfect for our soccer season and our teams have been enjoying the warm conditions and wonderful support of fans at games. The soccer playoffs and finals are scheduled for the week of Oct. 19 wrapping up the season.

Our grade nine trip to Bamfield Marine Science Centre on Vancouver Island is taking place this week. We are confident it will be an amazing experience for grade nine students participating and we hope to continue this trip in coming years.

Alberta Referendum Oct. 19 - Polling Station

There is no school for students on Monday, Oct. 19. Captain Nichola Goddard School has been selected as a polling station for the referendum scheduled on that date.

Provincial Achievement Testing – June 2027

Each year, Alberta Education conducts Provincial Achievement Testing for all Alberta students in grades six and nine. The testing occurs in June 2027. The schedule for PATs will be added to the school calendar found on our school website. A letter outlining the process was emailed to all families of grade six and nine students. Please contact the office if you have not received the email.

School Council Meeting - Oct. 21

The second School Council Meeting of the 2026-27 school year is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30pm. We will be meeting at school in the Learning Commons so please join us if you can.

Phoenix Rising Basketball Tournament

Congratulations to our Junior Boys and Girls basketball teams who played in our Phoenix Rising Basketball Tournament last weekend. Both teams played very well but, more importantly, were exceptional hosts and ambassadors for our school. Thank you, student-athletes, you make us proud.  Another thank you to our athletes’ families who provided snacks for the volunteer room and helped us share our appreciation with the coaches, refs and supervisors that made our weekend a success!
