Weekly Message - November 3-7

As we transition back following the ATA strike and return to work there is still some uncertainty as details continue to unfold, and we will share updates as they become available. This return period marks an important moment for our school community and we want to thank all our staff, students, and families for the way you’ve supported one another during this time. It’s truly good to have our classrooms full again.

As noted in the CBE’s recent communication to families, at this time teachers are focused on re-establishing routines and prioritizing teaching and learning in classrooms. Activities and events such as athletics, field trips, and other extracurricular programs may be delayed, rescheduled, or cancelled as we determine what is possible in the coming weeks. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work through this transition together.

This week has been about reconnecting — with students, with each other, and with the rhythm of school life. I’m so proud of how our staff and students have come back together with optimism and focus. It’s a reminder of the strength of our community and the EPIC values that ground us: Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Courage.

Even though school life still feels a little different right now, today was a fun and welcome reminder of the joy and creativity our students and staff bring to our community. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, costumes, and laughter throughout the day and a great way to end the week on a positive note.

A quick reminder that daylight saving time ends this weekend. Please remember to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night so everyone arrives on time Monday morning!

Athletics

We anticipate that basketball practices may begin as early as the week of November 3–7, depending on league updates and staff availability. More information will be shared with players and families as soon as we have confirmation from coaches and the league organizers.

Extracurriculars and Clubs

Decisions about other extracurricular activities will be made on a case-by-case basis over the next two weeks. Staff are eager to return to supporting student experiences beyond the classroom but will be taking time to assess commitments carefully.
