Weekly Message - March 2-6
March is almost here, and we are entering a busy stretch at CNGS. The volleyball season is wrapping up, Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8, and Spring Break is approaching. Thank you for your continued support during this full and active time of year.
Pink Shirt Day – Feb. 25
As part of our Pink Shirt Day activities, we want to recognize Homeroom 9.2 for representing our school at the Calgary Hitmen TELUS Be Brave game on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The class earned the opportunity to attend by raising the most funds during our September Terry Fox fundraiser. A highlight of the day was Alex B.’s involvement. After submitting a video application, Alex was selected as a junior reporter for the game, participated in the broadcast on Sportsnet 960 as a commentator, and watched the game from the media booth. Back at school, many students marked Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday, Feb. 25, by wearing pink to show support for one another and to take a clear stand against bullying.
Community Pantry
In partnership with School Council, we are pleased to share the introduction of a new initiative at Captain Nichola Goddard School – our Community Pantry.
The Community Pantry has been created to support our school students and families by providing access to food and essential household items in a respectful, confidential, and judgment-free way. This pantry is available to all school families, and families are welcome to use it at any time, for any reason.
To help stock the pantry, we will be holding monthly collection weeks during the first week of every month. During these weeks, families who wish to participate are invited to donate:
- Non-perishable food items
- Self-care and personal hygiene items
- Monetary donations
Our first collection week will take place from March 2–6.
Participation in donation drives is always optional, and we appreciate any level of support our families are able to offer. Donations will directly support students and families within our school community.
Accessing the pantry is simple and private. Families can reach out to any trusted staff member to ask questions or request support.
There is no requirement to explain your circumstances, and all use of the pantry is kept confidential.
As this initiative grows, we hope to expand beyond our school to support the wider community of Panorama Hills.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you for being part of a caring and supportive school community.

Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch – Tuesdays & Wednesdays
School Council’s Healthy Hunger program continues to run each Tuesday and Wednesday. Families can register and place orders through the Healthy Hunger website.
This program is an important fundraiser for our school, raising more than $10,000 annually while providing students with a range of lunch options throughout the year.
We are grateful to our dedicated parent volunteers who make this possible. Additional support would help us share the workload. If you are able to volunteer for an hour on a Tuesday or Wednesday, please contact Wilma Wong at cngsfunlunch@gmail.com.
Planning for the 2026–27 School Year
The CBE continues to experience significant enrolment growth, and Captain Nichola Goddard School will remain a Closed status school.
Closed status means the school has reached its capacity and cannot accept transfer requests from students living outside our designated attendance area. Students who reside in Panorama Hills will continue to be admitted. Families living outside Panorama Hills can confirm their designated school using the CBE Find a School tool on the CBE website.
Class Assignments and Requests
Each year, we carefully build class groupings to support student learning.
If you have an educationally based request regarding your child’s placement for next year, you are welcome to submit it using our online form. Parent input is considered as part of the process; however, final decisions rest with the school.
If your family is planning to move or transfer to another school next year, please contact the office at (403) 817-3300. Early notice helps us plan effectively and support smooth transitions.
School Council Annual General Meeting – April 15
Our April School Council meeting, taking place Wednesday, April 15, will serve as the Annual General Meeting. At that time, we hope to elect council and association members for next year. Several positions remain open.
If you are interested in contributing to the school community in this way, we encourage you to consider joining. For questions, please contact:
- Nancy Wong at cngscouncilchair@gmail.com
- April Boutin at parentassoc.cngs@gmail.com
Lost & Found
Our school’s Lost & Found is currently full. If your child is missing any clothing, water bottles, lunch boxes, or other personal items, please encourage them to check the Lost & Found as soon as possible.
All unclaimed items will be donated after Wednesday, March 4.
Thank you for your help in clearing out these items and ensuring belongings are returned to their owners.
