Weekly Message - May 26-30

It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final week of May—with just five weeks left in the school year, things are moving quickly! This week marks the start of Provincial Achievement Tests for our Grade 6 and 9 students. We know they’ve been working hard, and we’re proud of the effort they’re putting in.

Looking ahead, Track & Field and Flag Football events are coming up in early June, and our Outdoor Band Concert is just around the corner—perfect timing as we enjoy some warmer weather and more time outside.

Thanks for your continued support as we wrap up the month and keep the energy going strong into June!

Open House Evening

We are hosting an open house on Wednesday, May 28, starting at 6:00 pm. The focus of the open house is to welcome our future students who are currently in grade five. We also want to extend a welcome to any other new students joining us for the 2025-26 school year.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer grade five tours this year because of space constraints so we are encouraging all future students to attend this evening event.

Save the Date – Spring Music Concert (and Food Trucks!)

Our Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at Captain Nichola Goddard. Weather permitting, we plan to hold our concert outside behind the school, with performances located on the compound! Although we will have chairs available for the audience. Please feel free to bring your own picnic blankets and outdoor chairs for our festival of sound! We will be featuring our Jr. Band, Sr. Band, Jazz Band, and Strings Club, with a special farewell performance by our grade 9 students. Performers are required to arrive by 5:45pm and the show will start at 6:30pm!

We will have food trucks onsite for anyone who wants to purchase food, vendors include Family Squeezed Lemonade, Cookie Dough, and Alberta Burgers. Bring your appetite!

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs)

The grade 6 & 9 students begin writing PATs this week with an English Language Arts test. Grade 6 students will write on the morning of Wednesday, May 28 and Grade 9 students will write the following day, Thursday, May 29. The remainder of PAT testing will resume on June 12 until June 19.

CNG Athletics Update

Congratulations to all four of our badminton teams on their performance in last week’s divisional tournaments! Our Grade 7 and 9 teams finished second, while our Grade 6 and 8 teams brought home the championship. It was a fantastic display of sportsmanship and athleticism from all teams—well done!

Our track teams are currently training in preparation for the upcoming meet on June 2. All athletes should now have a training schedule, a parent letter, and the code for our Track Team Google Classroom. If you’re missing any of these items, please connect with Ms. Connolley to get the information you need.

Grade 9 Farewell – June 24

We are preparing for our annual farewell celebration for our grade nine students. We have identified the evening of Tuesday, June 24, as the night for the festivities. More details will be shared by the grade nine teachers in the coming weeks.
