Weekly Message - May 12-16

As we move into May, there’s a lot to look forward to at Captain Nichola Goddard School! Our students are gearing up for upcoming badminton tournaments, and we’re looking ahead to an exciting concert in early June that promises to showcase some incredible talent. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we wish all the amazing moms in our community a weekend filled with appreciation and love. A reminder that our final School Council meeting of the year will take place this Wednesday evening—we hope to see many of you there!

Celebrating Student Success

We’re thrilled to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of several Captain Nichola Goddard School students who have recently excelled beyond the classroom. Franco L. demonstrated excellence at the 43rd Can-Am International Martial Arts Championship in Vancouver, earning three gold medals and the title of Grand Champion (Under 16) in Taichi—an incredible achievement that reflects his discipline and dedication. Meanwhile, in the world of creative writing, Sophie T. and Elena L. were named winners of the 2025 Martyn Godfrey Young Writers Award. Out of only three winners selected across Alberta for Grade 8, two are from our school—a remarkable testament to the strength and diversity of talent in our student community. We are proud of these students and inspired by their passion and commitment.

Save the Date – Spring Music Concert

Our Spring Concert and Art Showcase will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at Captain Nichola Goddard. Weather permitting, we plan to hold our concert outside behind the school, with performances located on the compound! Although we will have chairs available for the audience. Please feel free to bring your own picnic blankets and outdoor chairs for our festival of sound! We will be featuring our Jr. Band, Sr. Band, Jazz Band, and Strings Club, with a special farewell performance by our grade 9 students. Performers are required to arrive by 5:45pm and the show will start at 6:30pm!
