Veterans Food Drive ends November 18
We are collecting non-perishable food items for the Veterans Association Food Bank (canned tuna, coffee, sugar, pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit and vegetables, pudding, canned beans, etc.). Families can make a financial donation to the Veteran's Food Bank of Alberta if they wish. Cash donations can be made in homeroom classes, or online donations can be made at https://veteransfoodbankalberta.ca/donate.
Here are a few important details:
- The food drive will run for three weeks.
- Grade 9 Leadership students will collect donations from homerooms on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
- Students are also encouraged to contribute money to the food drive. An envelope for cash donations will be delivered by our students later this week.
- Each homeroom will receive a scorecard list of requested food items and their assigned point values. The homeroom with the highest total points in each grade will win a pizza party!
Thank you for supporting our Grade 9 Leadership students and helping us make a difference in our community.
School Council Information
Our next School Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons. School Council meetings are a great way to stay informed, share your voice, and support school initiatives. We welcome all parents and guardians to attend because your involvement helps strengthen our school community. We are trying out a hybrid structure for our November meeting; we will meet in the Learning Commons at 6:30pm and broadcast the meeting through Microsoft Teams for anyone interested in logging in online.
Annual Winter Activity Day
Winter Activity Day is taking place on Thursday, December 3. Forms were sent home with students starting to sign up for their chosen activities during classes on October 22. Most students are now registered but there’s still space available on many trips for anyone who hasn’t yet returned their forms. Students can bring their form and payment to the PE office before or after school.
Our Annual Winter Activity Day is a huge undertaking. Providing multiple field trips for nearly 1,000 students across the city and surrounding area takes a tremendous amount of coordination and we need your support! If you are able to volunteer to join one of the trips, please contact Ms. Connolley at alconnolley@cbe.ab.ca to receive a volunteer form. We love to have parent volunteers join us for Activity Day, and we would love to have you be part of it.
To be eligible to volunteer, you must have CBE security clearance. If you’re unsure whether your clearance is current for this school year, please call or stop by the office to confirm. Your support helps ensure that every student can participate safely and enjoy a great day of experiences beyond the classroom.
If your child will be absent on December 3, please email Ms. Connolley at alconnolley@cbe.ab.ca. There will be no group remaining at the school that day so all students attending must be registered in an activity.
All permission forms need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned by students to the bin in the gym as soon as possible.
