Weekly Message - June 16-20
We are in the final weeks of the school year. Students in grades six and nine will finish writing their Provincial Achievement Tests this week, and then we will quickly enter the last week of the year. The final week of classes is a short week with an early dismissal on Thursday, June 26, and no classes for students on Friday, June 27.
Provincial Achievement Testing – Gr. 6 & 9
Our grade six and nine students continue writing Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) this week. The dates and times of the tests are indicated in the Week Ahead section of this message. Preliminary test results will be shared on the report card, and finalized results will be shared with families in the fall.
Music Program
CBE instrument rentals are due back June 16, 2025. Please make sure to do a thorough cleaning of your instrument and case before returning it to school. Students will also do a thorough cleaning of their mouthpieces with Sterisol spray in the music classroom in the coming days.
Any Long & McQuade or St. John’s rentals must be returned to the store by the families renting them, no later than June 29, 2025, unless you wish to continue renting. If you have any questions, please ask Ms. Tonn.
Summer instrument rentals will be processed following this inventory; if your child is interested in renting an instrument for summer, please see Ms. Tonn before June 20, 2025.
Grade 9 Farewell
We are hosting our grade 9 farewell on June 24. The ceremony will run from 6:30-7:30pm followed by snacks and other activities for the students ending at 9:30pm. Students should arrive at 6:00pm for instructions, photos, and procession organization. Doors will be open at 6:00pm for families to find seats in the gymnasium.
Sports Day
On Friday June 20th, we will have our annual end of year CNG Sports Day. Our Phoenix community will spend the morning traveling from station to station playing games, competing in sports and celebrating another year well done with their classmates and teachers. Students should dress in comfortable clothing, wear running shoes and have a water bottle with them. Any students with outdoor allergies or asthma should have their EpiPen and/or inhalers with them for the entire morning.
If you will be picking your child up early on Friday, please be sure they know what time to expect you. As regular classes are not running, it might be challenging to get your child to you in a timely manner if we don’t know in advance.
Go Sports Day!
