Weekly Message - June 9-13
Thank you to all who joined us on Wednesday for our first ever outdoor concert event. The evening was amazing and created core memories for many of our musicians. Food trucks and beautiful weather helped make the event even better and it was a delight to see friends, families, students and staff enjoying a fantastic performance.
June is always a busy time of the school year, and this year is no different. We have a lot going on as students and teachers cover the remaining outcomes from the various Programs of Study. Our grade 6 and 9 students will be taking Provincial Achievement Tests from June 13-19. Details on specific tests can be found in The Week Ahead information below.
The last week of classes this year is a four-day week (June 23-26). Students’ last day is Thursday, June 26, and classes are dismissed at 12:10pm on that day.
In addition, we are hosting our grade 9 farewell on June 24. The ceremony will run from 6:30-7:30pm followed by snacks and other activities for the students ending at 9:30pm. Students should arrive at 6:00pm for instructions, photos, and procession organization. Doors will be open at 6:00pm for families to find seats in the gymnasium.
Next Year Information
The 2025-26 school calendar is in place and dates for various events and activities are being posted on our website calendar. We will not be publishing a printable calendar for the coming school year; all information will be maintained on the school website calendar.
The first day of classes will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025, starting at 8:05am. Meeting locations for all students will be emailed to families the week before classes start.
School Council – Staff Appreciation
The end of school year is near! Please join the CNGS Council and Parent Association in showing appreciation to the teachers and staff of CNGS!
The School Council and Parent Association are sponsoring a meal for the staff. We would like to invite you to bring in some treats for them! An online sign up for contributions can be found here

Please drop off all items to the school office before 12 noon on Thursday June 26 (the last day of school).
Thank you!
Athletics
Flag Football - On Friday, June 6 (just as this update goes live on the website) our amazing football athletes compete against other schools from throughout the city, and we are confident they will be exceptional ambassadors for our school.
Track & Field - Our athletes made us incredibly proud at the track and field meet on June 2! Not only did they represent Captain Nichola Goddard School with outstanding sportsmanship and respect, but they also demonstrated remarkable talent and determination in every event.
Track and field is such a powerful display of individual effort contributing to a larger team goal—and our Phoenix team delivered in every way. Their strong performances led to a sweep of multiple divisions, including:
- Boys Junior Varsity
 - Boys Junior
 - Girls Intermediate
 - Overall Junior
 - Overall Girls
 - Overall Boys
 - And the Grand Aggregate for the entire meet!

Congratulations to our entire CNG track team—you represented our school with excellence, and we couldn’t be prouder!
Learning Commons
All library books are due back to the Learning Commons by June 13th. Some classes are finishing up novel studies, so in-class novels may still be in use, but all other novels checked out by students must be returned by this date. Invoices will be issued shortly after this date for books not returned and presumed lost.
