Weekly Message - Jan 15-19 | PD Day, Report Cards, Traffic Safety

We are back into the routine of school once again after winter break. Things are getting busy as staff finalize report cards and prepare for the term change at the end of the month. Volleyball tryouts are underway, and classes and extracurricular clubs continue.

No School on Monday, January 15

Please note there are no classes on Monday, January 15 due to a CBE non-instruction day.

Report Cards - January 30

This year, report cards will be sent home electronically at the end of January. All families will be able to access their child’s report card through a tab titled Report Card in MyCBE at the end of the first term.

Heathy Hunger Fun Lunch – Tuesdays & Wednesdays

Don’t forget to order your fun lunch at HealthyHunger.ca. The money raised from Healthy Hunger goes toward supporting the school program in a variety of ways. Many exciting events coming up this year will also benefit from this fundraising program.

Winter Band Concert & Art Showcase

Our winter band concert & art showcase is coming up on January 23rd at 7:00pm in the gym. All band students must be at school by 6:30pm to be ready for the 7:00pm start. More information to come soon.

Traffic Safety

We would like to remind parents to exercise caution when dropping off students in front of the school. There has been a significant decrease in the number of vehicles entering the school parking lot which is great, but we are seeing an increase of illegal U-turns, jaywalking, and blocking traffic. When we choose convenience over safety, we are putting students at risk, and we all have an interest in keeping students safe.

Please consider dropping your child off away from the front of the school to ease congestion and allow for students to enter the school safely. The school doors open at 7:45am so please ensure they are dressed appropriately for the cold weather if they are coming to school before that time.

School Play – April Performance

We are bringing performing arts back to Captain Nichola Goddard School with a one act play called “Skin” by Dennis Foon, scheduled for April 24 & 25. The play is about teens navigating racism in their school. Auditions have been held and rehearsals will begin next week.

School Council Meeting

All parents are invited to our next Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 16, at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons.
