Weekly Message - Oct 30-Nov 3 | Halloween, Remembrance Day, Basketball
October is already ending and November break is just around the corner! This week is another busy one around Captain Nichola Goddard.
Fun Lunch Updates
New Fun Lunch options have been added for the remainder of November and December. Please log in to your account at HealthyHunger.ca to place any orders.
Halloween Costumes
We encourage students to dress up, join in the fun, and enjoy the day on Oct. 31. There are a few expectations that must be met by those who choose to participate: students cannot wear full face masks that hide their identity and costumes cannot include weapons.
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day Assemblies will be held on Wednesday, November 8 and visitors are welcome to join us. We will be holding two assemblies to include all our students. The first assembly for grades six and seven will begin at 9:30am, the second assembly for our grade eight and nine students will begin at 10:45am.
Parents are welcome to join us for either assembly, simply sign in at the office and come to the gym to find a seat in the space designated for visitors.
Students are encouraged to wear their service uniforms (Cadets, Scouts, Girl Guides) when attending the Remembrance Day ceremony held on November 8th.
Students are invited to wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to remember those who served and sacrificed within the military. The red flower also is the symbol of the Legion's Poppy Campaign, raising funds to support Veterans and their families in need. We have received a supply of poppies from the Legion for all of our students and we invite everyone within our school community to make a $1 or $2 donation to this year's campaign and to proudly show their recognition by wearing this symbol of Remembrance.
Remembrance Day Photo Slideshow
As part of our school’s Remembrance Day ceremony, we would like to recognize family members who have served or are serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. Please send your family member’s military photo or photos (original or scanned copy) along with their name, official title/role and the year(s) of their service to the Main Office captainnicholagoddard@cbe.ab.ca. Thank you!
Veterans Food Bank Food Drive
This year, CNGS continues to collect donations for the Veterans food bank. From November 1st-8th, non-perishable food donations, essential toiletries and monetary donations are accepted. Please avoid donating glass jars as they can be breakable. Students can donate to the boxes in their homeroom or to the main office.
Basketball Away Games
This is just a reminder to our Phoenix fans that you are only permitted to travel to another school to watch your friends play basketball if you are accompanied by an adult the entire time you are at that school. Our athletes fill out forms to be able to go to other schools, so all other CNG students must be under the supervision of their own guardian or parent.
*** For home games, you may be a fan without your parent however we ask all CNG students to leave between Phoenix games to ensure there is seating for fans and families of the students playing from other schools. We really appreciate all the support!
Athletics Fees
Reminder to all fall athletes to please check their accounts online as team fees have been added. Thank you for your patience while we waited for these fees to be processed downtown, they are now visible in MyCBE and ready to be paid.
